Total Solar Eclipse

The Moon completely blocks the Sun’s disk, revealing the Sun’s outer atmosphere (corona).

The Moon only blocks part of the Sun, creating a crescent shape.

The Moon is farther away from Earth, appearing smaller and not fully covering the Sun, leaving a bright ring (annulus) of sunlight around the Moon.

A rare type that shifts between total and annular during the eclipse, due to the Earth’s curvature.
